CILR first started out in 2001 and was formally incorporated in 2002.
On August 31st 2008 a General Meeting was held to elect additional Board members to help oversea and direct the ongoing operations of the Council for Innovation and Learning Regina.
Following a period of discussion a motion was moved for the membership to vote on the dissolution of the organization based on the following criteria:
1) CILR's Articles of Incorporation and Organization require that there be three Directors at any given time. At the time of the General Meeting only two were in place. This was due to an unfilled vacancy. Faced with the prospect of another Board member resigning in the first part of September the total number of Directors would be reduced to one unless these positions were filled.
2) The focus of CILR had changed from an informal network of professionals exchanging ideas and information to further the use of new and existing technologies in non traditional areas to a more formal program oriented organization. Some members felt this move, however gradual, had taken away from the original purpose of CILR. This had help the membership become alienated from the organization and its new direction.
For these reasons the present members of the Council for Innovation and Learning Regina voted to dissolve the organization and cease all activities effective September 1st, 2008.
This motion passed with a majority.
Existing programs will be continued by partners on a volunteer basis for as their resources allow through and under the banner of these partner organizations.
